Denise Olson is a Professional Counseling Associate with Serein Counseling. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science and is certified by the National Career Developmental Association from Chico State University, California. She also has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University. Denise has had experience working with students of all ages for decades and has been an academic counselor for 7 years before becoming a mental health counselor. Denise has worked as a professional counseling associate for two years. Her experience varies as she has worked with Phoenix Counseling Center in Phoenix Oregon, and now owns her private practice in Brookings, Oregon.

Denise believes that everyone possesses the skills and strengths they need to succeed. As a therapist, she taps into those strengths so individuals can make the positive life changes they seek. Denise addresses concerns with developmental, emotional, existential, and motivational to promote personal growth toward more profound meaning and well-being. Goal setting is done as a team. Denise draws primarily from acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical and cognitive-behavioral techniques (DBT, and CBT techniques), narrative, and existential theories, family/marital, and humanistic approaches. She loves being outdoors, gardening, sharing her musical talents with people and the local symphony, creating new works of art, and spending time with her family.
